It's true that doctrine divides. It's also true that love unifies. The unity we have in the faith is rooted and grounded in truth and love. Remove truth (right theology and doctrine) from the mix and you have less than Biblical unity. Remove love and you have no unity. Love causes us to seek truth and share that truth with others so that we become more unified. God is truth, and as we are more acquainted with His truth, the closer we are to Him, and the closer we become to each other

I didn't get a chance to look at all of it (it's late), but does the Bible say when the gifts will cease?

I'm a more of a continuationist in my thinking now, as I do believe that the gifts of tongues are still here. However, I think charismaniacs have gone overboard with a lot of the gifts. As a member of a charismatic church, I see that a lot of the tongues are learned...i.e. they're simply recitations what they heard someone else utter [falsely]. They are also not use in according to scripture. However I have seen what I believe to be authentic tongues, although very rarely. Also, everybody and their mama is a prophet nowadays. How many of them were there in the OT? Which is why I hate going to charismaniac/ultra-pentecostal churches, cause I know I might have to quote Deut. 18:22 to someone.

yes... it's pretty clearly spelled out in Scripture, esp. when you take into consideration the purpose for the gifts and the nature of the early church... the latter portion of 1 Cor 13 helps to clear this up... i don't have the time @ the moment, but if i remember i'll post up some info concerning it later today
